MINDFULNESS COACH

My approach blends clinical social work training, mindfulness-based stress reduction, and the latest evidence-based practices in holistic wellness.

For the last 15 years, I have followed a passion for public service. From direct social work practice and community advocacy to macro-level work in the federal government and higher education sectors.

I have taught mindfulness, stress management tools,  and holistic approaches to wellness at Arizona State University since 2014. My mission is to bring the classroom to you – providing real-life, accessible skills that you and your team can use immediately.

I am driven to teach the skills that changed my own life & the lives of those I work with:  mindfulness & embodiment practices, approaching health holistically, and developing a trauma-informed well-being plan.

I always used to be in a rush. I thought, “this was how life should be if you wanted to get things done.” And getting things done is how I measured success. When I wasn’t doing something, I felt guilty. Sitting quietly was a luxury I wasn’t worthy of. And when I stopped for a moment, I had the urge to get up and do something again.

I was exhausted and had no patience. I didn’t recognize that I was burning out. Then I developed my mindfulness discipline and learned how to approach my well-being holistically, and everything changed.

Since practicing mindfulness regularly and tending to my health holistically, I’ve seen new perspectives. I’m more compassionate to others (and myself!) and have much more patience in general. I notice when I start to get frustrated and catch myself before overreacting.

Using these tools also help me to manage my symptoms related to Chronic Migraine disease and Visual Snow Syndrome, as well as the mental health struggles of anxiety and depression that often accompany chronic illness.

I don’t feel overwhelmed by stressful situations. I can see things more clearly and I manage my stress more effectively. I have more tools in my toolbox, and I know when and how to use them. I feel more resilient and less like life is dragging me along.

Mindfulness has made me appreciate what I already have and has created space for natural & lasting healing in my life. It’s helped me uncover and address what was holding me back, and I’m constantly excited to share that with others.

With love, Rebecca
